Women Walking

January 09, 20243 min read

As the week unfolds, many of us find ourselves seeking a boost of motivation and positivity to tackle the challenges ahead. What if I told you there’s a fun, exhilarating, and empowering way to end the week?

There’s something magical about the combination of fresh air, a touch of adventure, and the camaraderie of a group of like-minded women. Picture this: a hill, the rising sun, and the laughter of friends (and a creamy hot chocolate with marshmallows half way up!). The act of climbing a hill goes way beyond physical exercise; it becomes a mood-boosting, empowering experience that sets the tone for an uplifting week to follow. Join Retreat Yourself this weekend as we explore Rivington Pike with some of our favourite women!

The Power of Connection

Climbing a hill with a group of women fosters a unique bond. As you tackle the incline together, the shared challenge creates a sense of unity and support. Conversations flow, laughter echoes, and friendships strengthen, creating a powerful connection that lasts way beyond the climb.

Nature’s Therapy

The great outdoors has a remarkable way of rejuvenating the mind and soul wheher it be the crashing of the waves on the beach of the sound of the trees in the wind. You just cant beat being outdoors.  The thing with being outdoors, or climbing a hill in this case, as we start to ascend the hill, surrounded by the beauty of nature, our stress starts to melt away. The soothing sounds of rustling leaves and birds replace the hustle and bustle of daily life that we have become so accustomed (annoyed) to listening to. Research in the International Journal of Environmental Health Research actually suggests that exposure to nature can enhance our mood and reduce feelings of anxiety.

Endorphin Elevation

Physical activity, especially in the form of climbing, triggers the release of endorphins, which are our body’s natural mood lifters. The combined effect of the exercise and the accomplishment of reaching the summit can really leave you feeling on top of the world, both physically and emotionally.

Mindfulness in Motion

As you climb, whether it be a hill or a mountain, the rhythmic nature of the activity allows for a form of moving meditation. Without realising, you start to focus on your breath, the crunch of gravel beneath your shoes, and the scenery unfolding around you. This mindfulness in motion can bring a sense of clarity and tranquility, setting a positive tone for the week ahead.

Boosting Creativity

Research in the journal PLOS ONE suggests that spending time in nature can enhance our creativity. Combine that with the uplifting atmosphere of a group of dynamic women, and you have a recipe for inspired thinking and fresh perspectives and maybe even an opportunity to get some insight and advice that you just wouldn’t get in the workplace.

So, why not joins us this Sunday and embark on a hill-climbing adventure with us to Rivington Pike? Whether it’s for the exercise, the social element, fresh air or all three – you’ll experience will undoubtedly set your week off on a high note. Let the laughter echo, the endorphins flow, and the bonds strengthen as we hike together, celebrating the beauty of friendship, nature, and the limitless heights you can reach when you do it together.
